Whittonstall Community Band carries on following the tragic death of our band master and dear friend, John Myers.
John has been an inspiring figure in the formation of our band and oversaw the development and improvement of the band with his huge enthusiasm and unstinting encouragement of each and everyone of us, but in particular with both the younger and less experienced players. He always believed in us even when we doubted ourselves and he is sorely missed.
We have come so far in such a short period of time, but our band is still in its infancy. It is too early to say what the future holds for us, but John has given us such a passion for making music together that we are determined to carry on. John is and always will be irreplaceable, but hopefully with time we shall find someone who shares the same passion as us, to make music together whatever our age or ability and to have fun.
Whenever we play, our thoughts will always be with those who loved and cared about John.
